Guide to Vieques Landmarks

Mulle Caña (Sugarcane Pier)

Mulle Cana (muey-ay cahn-ya) is an abandoned concrete pier in Esperanza (south Vieques). The pier was once used to load sugarcane from trucks onto barges.

The Mulle, ravaged by time and several hurricanes, is now a landmark location for visitors and Viequenses alike.

Mulle Cana has a calm, sandy beach on both sides. These beaches are excellent for relaxing, picnicking and swimming. Snorkelers will see hundreds of tropical fish around the Mulle's pilings.

Viequenses use the pier for unloading fishing boats; some fish from the sides with hand lines. Kids (young and old) enjoy jumping and diving off Mulle Cana.

Mulle Cana is a wonderful place to start a tranquil walk along the beach to Sun Bay.
